“This is a magnificent, special artwork. It expresses the drama of a public space in which for over a century many souls have taken a stance in the cause of freedom.” – Matt Foley
Tasmania is known for it’s rich history of protest and activism particularly when protecting it’s stunning wilderness. The Stance uses this as inspiration for this extraordinary site-specific dance and sound performance investigating the choreography of bodies in protest. Performed by dancers of Mature Artists Dance Experience (MADE) The Stance questions how and why we protest. What makes us go to the street to march? How much are we willing to sacrifice to create change? Are we making an impact or is this becoming an empty action?
Dancers perform to a live and original sound composition transmitted through wireless headphones providing an intimate viewing experience for this evocative work.
